Embark on your Kilimanjaro expedition with an early departure from your hotel or office in Moshi or Arusha. After a satisfying breakfast and a final check of your gear, you'll set out for the Lemosho Gate, the gateway to the majestic mountain. As you pass through the gate, excitement builds as you take your first steps on the trail. The lush rainforest envelopes you in a canopy of green, with sunlight filtering through the dense foliage. Keep your eyes peeled for the playful antics of monkeys and the vibrant plumage of tropical birds. After several hours of hiking, you'll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780 meters), nestled amongst towering trees. Here, you'll set up camp for the night, surrounded by the serene beauty of the forest, with the sounds of nature lulling you to sleep.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

Bid farewell to the verdant rainforest as you ascend into the moorland zone. The trail opens up to reveal sweeping vistas of the Shira Plateau, with its undulating terrain stretching out before you. Marvel at the rugged grandeur of Kilimanjaro's slopes as you make your way towards Shira 1 Camp (3,505 meters). Along the way, take time to appreciate the unique flora and fauna that thrive in this high-altitude environment. As the day draws to a close, settle into camp and watch as the setting sun bathes the landscape in golden hues, a prelude to the adventure that awaits.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Barranco Camp

Today's trek takes you through the stark beauty of the alpine desert, where the landscape is dominated by rocky outcrops and vast expanses of barren terrain. As you ascend towards Barranco Camp (3,960 meters), you'll pass by the striking Lava Tower, a volcanic formation that punctuates the skyline. The trail offers panoramic views of Kilimanjaro's glaciers and rugged peaks, providing a glimpse of the challenges that lie ahead. Arriving at Barranco Camp, nestled in a scenic valley beneath towering cliffs, you'll be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment and a well-deserved rest after a day of trekking.
